We’re so excited to tell you we’ve had the fabulous new shape wear stock in.  We’ve also tried and tested it so we know we’re selling you quality and we have been astounded!  The dress item gives you a little cleavage boost, but more importantly creates curves and is so comfortable – we couldn’t get over it!  The material is pretty and light so you wouldn’t get too hot in it under your main dress.  It’s slightly see-through so your stunning Orchid lingerie doesn’t get completely hidden too!  The material itself is lightly decorated but so understated and it made our clothes hang just beautifully.

The waist cincher again is just the same.   No lumps or bumps and even comfortable when sat down lounging or at a dinner table.  Holds your tummy just flat and gives your waist curve a  subtle but beautiful accentuation.  The material is light and flexible so you don’t feel like your being held too tight, more like a lovely clothes cuddle!  This piece will look just delicious with some red or other strong colour lingerie either side of it.

I heard an amazing story on the news this morning, which I just had to share with you all.

600 year old bras were unearthed in 2008 in an Austrian castle!  Described as “the missing link” by a fashion curator (what a cool job!) it shows us that women were supporting themselves prior to the invention of the corset.  The corset had previously been thought to be the first type of garment for this purpose. 

More than that, our ancient sisters knew that practicality was not enough.  The article (weirdly) describes intricate lace detailing as an appeal to suitors.  I think we all know that it’s nothing to do with who may or may not see our clothes but how special and beautiful they make US feel! I know I choose the ranges we stock based on both as issues of equal importance.

I’m hoping to update this whenever I can with information about our new stock, sales, special events and interesting articles and such.  I hope it will become a useful resource for information about Orchid but also about lingerie, breast care and also research in the area, particularly around breast cancer.

Most recently, I visited my daughter in Shropshire.  She has a lovely local knitting and sewing shop nearby, which we just had to go to!  I was inspired and it has reinvigorated my desire to relearn how to crochet.  My intention is to hand make flower brooches and other such sweet things to raise money for both Macmillan and Breast Cancer Research.  I hope you will all be pleased with the outcome and help my little effort towards these fantastic organisations. http://www.anca-wools.co.uk/ is the inspirational shop for anyone else who may be interested in joining in with my project and looking for a starting point.  For other links, see the Links page!
